A Four Day Tour, The Somme With an Ypres Excursion
For the Somme and Ypres battlefield tour we base ourselves in the Somme area and take a day excursion to Ypres. The tour visits selected sites, but you will see a wide area of the Western Front from the Somme to the Ypres Salient. We also take an opportunity to visit other sites of interest en route.
 | The Somme and Ypres have shaped perceptions of the First World War for generations of British people. In the Battle of the Somme the British army suffered 57,000 casualties on the first day. More British soldiers were killed at Ypres than anywhere else in World War 1 and The Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele) remains today as perhaps the most powerful impression of sacrifice in the war. |
