Testimonials

Thanks again for a very fulfilling and enjoyable tour.  Once again I came away enlightened and with my previous knowledge extended and put into perspective but with many more questions and more books to buy. Whilst I found the entire tour thoroughly captivating, the parts that stood out for me were the Ulster Tower, the Lochnagar Crater and the Devonshire Cemetery which, with the associated poetry, I found particularly thought provoking. Having now experienced 2 First World War Tours with you, I look forward to the prospect of a Second World War tour next year.

Mr L. April 2011

An excellent tour enhanced by the information given to us on site. The thoughtful and personal touches (eg tea, coffee and sweets, booking lunch, alarm calls) took all the hassle out of travelling.  Thank you.

Mr and Mrs H.  April 2011

Thank you so much for a memorable trip.  Your warm and friendly, yet highly professional approach made the tour a great success. Nothing was too much trouble.  A visit to our grandfather’s grave was a personal highlight but the whole experience was very moving. Once more, many thanks.  J, K and A  P----  May 2011

I have enjoyed myself thoroughly.  The knowledge and organisation displayed has been momentous. I particularly liked the flexibility you showed to fit in with the plaque dedication at St Georges Church, Ypres as well as the contemporary literary excerpts that you read out.

Thank you

Mrs P. May 2011

G'day from the Aussie contingent of the tour!

May I thank the pair of you for making the holiday special.  I enjoyed your company in the evenings and the conversation was light and interesting. The information given during the days was really great and I know I understand more about WW1 than I ever had previously. You have such knowledge and the way it is presented is in such a way that it is easy to understand. So, thank you for taking care of us both and making the trip such a pleasure.

Many thanks Mrs & Miss T.  Australia  September 2011

Thank you so much for the very enjoyable and informative weekend.  We were so impressed at the excellent organisation and all the work you did to ensure individual interest.  It meant so much to people to be able to visit the graves of their relatives.  I found it so interesting that you researched probable battles where my great uncle was injured.  Thank you for all your hard work.

Mr and Mrs E.  Cardiff September 20ll

We just wanted to thank you for a wonderful trip.  We did not know what to expect, so we were open to whatever you were to offer. We feel what you offered was perfect and we have a much greater appreciation for WW1 thanks to you both.  We enjoyed where we stayed and the company on the bus.  We feel we really made the right choice in selecting your company.

Mr and Mrs B   California  September 2010

The information given by Steve was all very interesting and I enjoyed the presentations in the evenings.  An amazing depth of knowledge very sympathetically and objectively presented.  I also appreciated the tea coffee and daily bottles of water (and the sweets!)

Ms J. May 2011

Thank you so much for a fantastic tour.  The sympathetic way you handled our family’s interest in Hooge is very much appreciated. You have whetted all our appetites to return and learn more.  Thanks again.

I found the information pack and Steve’s evening talks informative and interesting. I liked Susan’s tea/coffee and sweets. Your give a personal service and are very approachable. I loved walking in a trench. I have wanted to do a WW1 tour for a long time and I know I chose the right company to achieve this! I will recommend you to friends and I will come on another tour.

Mr B. May 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was a very informative, well balanced tour. We would highly recommend it and no doubt you will be seeing us again in the future.

Mr and Mrs C. May 2011

I would like to thank you both very much for a very enjoyable time in France and Belgium. There was so much to see and we covered a lot of ground in a few days. On the fourth day it really hit me; the overwhelming enormity of the tragic loss of lives during WW1.  You took care of everyone. It was like going on holiday with friends!

Mrs A.  June 2011

Stephen and Susan. I must thank you for a very memorable tour. You made my trip unforgettable with your knowledge, enthusiasm and kindness.  Thank you.

Ms S. June 11

Just a big thank you once again to you both for such a great trip and for looking after us as you did. Dad thoroughly enjoyed it as did I also. He has already given mum an hour by hour account of the whole tour!

Steve your knowledge and 'stories' as well as passion for the subject really made it a fascinating trip and helped bring the different locations to life. Susan your genuine warmth and hospitality was likewise appreciated - tea, coffee & biscuits makes a big difference!

I hope you both now get a well deserved break.

Kind regards

Mr W. & Mr W.  June 2011

A quick thank you for a wonderful few days – We both really enjoyed ourselves – good tour guides, company, expert knowledge – it was all there! Exceptionally well planned and enjoyable tour.

We are looking forward to the tour in October.

Best wishes

Ms G and L.  June 2011

I would just like to say how much I enjoyed the recent battlefield tour. I have been on several Battlefield tours with other companies, but they all missed the personal touches of your tour.  Well done to both of you, and I look forward to seeing the photos on Facebook.  I hope to travel with you both again in the future. Kind regards,

Mr P. 2011

Once again would like to thank you both for a very enjoyable weekend. You made friends with everyone, nobody was left out.  Also those little extras such as the cake & biscuits and the sweeties coming round at intervals made a very personal touch.  Steve’s knowledge of wartime events was astounding, not only the content, but the delivery! You really made the battles come alive and as I looked out over the potato fields I could clearly see the battles in my mind’s eye.  The highlight of the trip for me, was finding my Great Uncle’s name on the memorial at Louverval. As far as I know I am the only member of my family to have been there.  It’s a journey I will always remember with fondness.  Kindest regards

Mrs A. 2011

We would both like to thank you very much once again for an absolutely fantastic weekend; you were both so informative and enthusiastic and all the places we visited really came alive.  I shall certainly be doing more research and brushing up on my history and we both would very much like to come again on one of your tours. Thank you both so much.  With very kind regards.

Mr B. and Ms G. July 2011

We would just like to place on record how much we appreciated our visit to the Somme.

Your enthusiasm and knowledge of the battles and area was really apparent and the little touches and kindness during the tour, coffee, tea, water and the toffees etc on the coach made all the difference.  We must also congratulate Will on his driving, and hope that he did not get home too late on Monday night.

We are both certainly looking forward to going with you again and will contact your shortly regarding the possibility of making another tour of the Ypres battlefields a little later this year.

With our thanks & kindest regards,

Mr J and Mr C July 2011

Thank you for such a wonderful weekend. All the information given regarding the sites visited was clear, interesting and relevant and the information packs gave us more insight and background knowledge. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wouldn’t hesitate to rebook another tour with you. It made Father’s Day 2011 very special and something to remember. The pre-travel assistance was excellent.

Mr and Miss K July 2011

We found everything great.  All the information of the history and all the sites was very informative – we couldn’t ask for better. As a family we were treated excellently. Tea and biscuits a fantastic idea as people do need a cup now and then!  Little treats are great.

Mr and Mrs 0’R. July 2011

As a family we went to France to search information regarding our relations.  We found it a moving and memorable experience.  Thank you to Steve and Susan who helped with our search which we found very rewarding. You were both very helpful, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating.  A great weekend.

Mrs, Miss & Mr B. July 2011

The knowledge you both possess is key to the quality of the tour. The ‘family touch’ makes all the difference. Best wishes to you both – You were superb!!

Mr and Mrs A. July 2011

Thank you so much for kindness and looking after me as I was on my own! The tour was good and we went to different places to last year so I learnt more which is always good.

Mrs J. July 2011

Thank you so much for your care and attention during my trip with you. A very interesting and informative experience made special by your expert ‘T.L.C.’.

With very best wishes and thanks

Mrs M. August 2011  Leicester

Thank you both for a wonderful trip.  Alan has long wished to do a battlefield tour but he said that this trip has more than exceeded his expectations.  He never thought he would actually get to visit Moncy le Preux.  We would both not hesitate to recommend your tours to anyone wishing to visit the battlefields.

Thank you again.
