How do I book?

Simply return the booking enquiry form on our “How to Book” page. We will then contact you. We will ask you to complete a booking form and pay a deposit. Full payment will be required 8 weeks before travel. We endeavour to make the process as simple as possible and we are always available to answer questions.

When I pay what happens to my money?

Guided Battlefield Tours is a member of the Travel Trust Association (www.traveltrust.co.uk). All of your payments are placed in an independent trust account until you have completed your tour. In the unlikely event of Guided Battlefield Tours failing The Travel Trust Association protects every service booked with us. You will be provided with a guarantee certificate when you book.

Do I have to share a room if travelling alone?

There is a supplement charged for the single occupancy of rooms. This is a charge made to Guided Battlefield Tours by hotels. If you are willing to share a twin room and there is another appropriate passenger willing to share to avoid paying the supplement we will arrange this.

Do I get my money back if I cancel my tour?

This will depend on when you cancel your tour. Guided Battlefield Tours are required to make payments to our suppliers by specified dates. Please refer to our Booking Conditions.

What happens if Guided Battlefield Tours cancels my tour?

In this unlikely event we will offer you an alternative tour, with a discount as described in our Booking Conditions, or provide a full refund.

Do I require travel insurance?

Yes. You must take out travel insurance and we will require details of your insurance prior to travel. You are also recommended to obtain a European Health Insurance Card.

Do I require a passport?

Yes. All passengers travelling with us from the UK to France and Belgium will require a passport. It is the responsibility of all passengers to ensure that they have their passport with them on joining the tour.

Can I travel with Guided Battlefield Tours if I have a disability?

We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate passengers with disabilities where it is safe to do so. However, all passengers must be able to access the coach without a wheelchair and some of the sites visited are unsuitable for use by people in wheelchairs. Any person joining a tour who requires assistance for a disability must travel with an appropriate person to provide this.

Where do I join a tour?

Tours will normally start in Cardiff and we will normally pick up passengers en route to Dover at Newport, Bristol, Reading and Ashford. We can be flexible in arranging pick up points along our route to and from Dover and are willing to discuss this with clients. We are able to organise parking at pickup points and we have arrangements with hotels on our route who will allow clients to park cars at the hotel if they book at least one night’s accommodation. We are also able to pick up clients flying to Gatwick, to which there are regular flights from other parts of the UK. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this issue.

Can Guided Battlefield Tours organise special tours for groups?

Yes this is possible. We can organise bespoke First World War tours for groups large or small, including schools. The price of the tour will depend on the numbers involved and such things as the itinerary, accommodation and time of year. If the group is of sufficient size we may also be able to offer a discount on our normal tour prices. Please contact us if you want to discuss this.

Will it be possible to request a visit to a particular grave or memorial?

Wherever possible we will stop to allow visits to a particular grave or memorial requested by a passenger. However, this is not always possible and will depend on its location in relation to the tour route. We can advise individual passengers on such stops during the booking process.

How do I find the location of a particular grave or memorial?

It is possible to do this via the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (www.cwgc.org) and we can assist you.

Will it be possible to lay a wreath on a grave or memorial?

It is possible to lay a wreath on a grave or memorial, such as the Menin Gate. We can assist you in obtaining a wreath and are happy to discuss this with you.
