The guide and courier were excellent and went the extra mile to make everyone happy. Information received about personal parts of lives of lost ones is something to be cherished forever.
Mr M, Glasgow
In 1917 the nature of The First World War changed fundamentally as the major burden of fighting against Germany on The Western Front passed to the British Army. The year also saw major changes in tactics on both sides, including developments in the use of new weapons such as the tank.

This WW1 tour visits sites from the three major British battles of 1917, The Battle of Arras, The Third Battle of Ypres and The Battle of Cambrai. The Battle of Arras, resulted in a greater casualty rate than any other major battle throughout the war. Britain’s major offensive on the Western Front in 1917 was The Third Battle of Ypres (The Battle of Passchendaele) which ended in a sea of mud in November. Finally, the year ended with the first ever mass tank attack at Cambrai.
